The quality of the relationship between the community and the Sheriff’s 办公室 determines the level of cooperation and support required for effective and equitable law enforcement.

Personnel commendations and 投诉 assist the Sheriff’s 办公室 in evaluating the quality of service provided to the residents of Doña安娜县.

从历史上看, it has been found that the majority of 投诉 against law enforcement officers are due to a lack of information regarding their duties and how they are entitled to carry them out.

Additionally, you may recognize when an individual goes above and beyond the call of duty. These individuals also need to be properly recognized for their efforts.

This information is designed to clarify some of the rights that you have, if you want to commend or make a legitimate complaint against a Sheriff’s 办公室 employee.

The Doña安娜县 Sheriff’s 办公室 acknowledges its responsibility by establishing a system of commendations, 投诉, 纪律处分程序. These procedures will not only subject the employee to disciplinary action when improper conduct is evident, but will also protect the employee when they properly perform their duties.

投诉 过程

谁可以提出投诉?

A complaint may be made by any person, 囚犯或警长办公室的成员.

投诉可以24小时通过电话提出, 信, email or in person with the on-duty supervisor or during regular business hours, with the 办公室 of 专业 标准/Internal Affairs Unit.  我们将接受所有投诉，包括匿名投诉.

If I am under 18 years old, do I have a right to file a complaint?

是的. Just have a parent, legal guardian or responsible adult present with you.

No. 然而, an anonymous complaint can be very difficult to investigate. 在调查过程中, additional information may be required from you to ensure a successful conclusion.

如果调查显示有不当行为, the employee will be disciplined according to the seriousness of the violation. Disciplinary actions can range from verbal coaching/counseling to suspension, 或者在极端情况下, 终止. If the allegation is criminal in nature, the case will be presented for prosecution.

轻微的投诉通常会立即处理. 一般来说, the investigation of a serious charge should be concluded in 30 days, 除非情况需要额外的时间.

1. Unfounded – The allegation is false or not factual; no misconduct.

3. Not sustained – The investigation produced insufficient information to either prove or disprove the allegations.

If you believe the complaint to be valid and the employee is ultimately exonerated, 这个案子就结束了. 然而, if it is determined that the complaint was false and malicious, you may be subject to criminal charges and/or a civil suit by the employee.

Commendations can be made by telephone, 信, email, or in person. Commendations can be filed 24 hours a day with an on-duty supervisor or during regular business hours with the 办公室 of 专业 标准.

我的推荐信怎么办?

Your recommendation will be forwarded to the employee’s supervisor for recognition. 员工的主管, 和/或指挥系统, will determine the type of award to be given based on the circumstances. Minor commendations may be handled directly by the supervisor, either verbally or considered when completing the employee’s performance evaluation.

Will I be notified of the results of my commendation recommendation?

是的. 关于轻微的表扬, you will most likely be advised by the supervisor of the type of action that will be taken. 对更大性质的表扬, you will be notified in writing of the results of the recommendation and the ceremonies that may take place so that you may attend, 如果你愿意.
